Fortnite Chapter 7 Tier List - Best Characters & Builds

Tier ListFortnite Chapter 7

Tracking the Dark Voyager requires finding 70 chaos cubes scattered across the island. But hunting them blindly is a fast way to get eliminated. This tier list ranks the known Point of Interest (POI) clusters—not by how many cubes they hold, but by how efficiently you can grab five and get out alive, whether you are dropping in solo or holding down a squad.

Ranking Criteria: Why Some Clusters Beat Others

Not all 50 available chaos cubes are created equal. While the "Path of the Voyager" quest tasks you with collecting them to unlock massive XP, the map layout makes some groups a complete trap. We are evaluating these clusters based on three axes:

  • Acquisition Friction: Are the cubes glued to the floor, or hidden inside props like the Fishstick statue's mouth? High-friction cubes get you killed while you awkwardly interact with the environment.
  • Combat Exposure: POIs with high foot traffic mean you are fighting for the right to search a tattoo parlor chair. Low-exposure POIs let you loot in peace.
  • Loot Density: Does the POI support your loadout, or are you picking up a chaos cube with nothing but a common pistol to defend yourself?

Top Tier: High Yield, Low Risk

These POIs offer the most forgiving environment for ticking off your quest progress without testing your patience in a 1v4 build fight.

Ripped Tides

Best for: Solo players and early-game drop-offs.

Why it wins: Ripped Tides offers immediate visual landmarks for cube hunting. The cubes are spread across distinct, identifiable zones—the west skate park, the east side's Octo Inc., and the northern shacks.

Unlike other POIs where cubes might be buried in complicated interiors, the clusters here use contextual hiding spots that are quick to access once identified. For instance, checking the tattoo parlor chair inside Octo Inc., the building with the giant octopus on top, takes seconds.

Execution shortcut: If you drop here, hit the wooden shack to the north first. It is typically uncontested compared to the main buildings. Grab that cube, then rotate into the skate park to check the Fishstick statue's mouth. Finally, push east to Octo Inc. By the time you finish this route, you should have your five cubes and enough floor loot to survive the first circle.

Skip if: The bus path takes you directly over it. A direct-line drop guarantees three other squads had the exact same idea.

Mid Tier: Situational Farms

These clusters are fine if you are already in the area or if your squad is actively holding the POI, but dropping here specifically for cubes is an unnecessary gamble.

Urban Interior POIs (Sus Studios, Battlewood Boulevard)

The hidden variable: Vertical complexity. POIs with dense multi-story buildings usually suffer from the same issue: you spend more time searching for the interactive exclamation point than you do actually collecting.

Trade-off: You will likely find better chest loot in these dense urban zones, but you are trading guaranteed XP progress for combat advantage. If you are trying to clear the quest before the mid-game, these POIs will slow you down. The loud humming noise the cubes emit is much harder to pinpoint when it is echoing through multiple floorboards and walls.

Low Tier: The Traps

Some locations are technically on the map, but prioritizing them is a strategic error.

High-Traffic Hot Drops

Decision archaeology: It is tempting to drop at the biggest POI on the map to get your five cubes out of the way. Here is why that logic fails: you are contesting these cubes against players who are there purely to fight. While you are rummaging through a wooden crate beside a metal building for a glowing orange box, an opponent is holding an angle down the hallway.

Unless your sole goal is to get eliminated early so you can queue up another match, avoid dropping at the named location with the most visual prominence. The cubes will still be there in the second circle when half the lobby is dead.

The Mechanics of the Cube Hunt

Understanding the game design intent behind the Path of the Voyager quest makes the grind significantly easier.

Audio cues over visual hunting: Chaos cubes are small and blend into the environment. Do not waste time manually checking behind every prop. When you are within a reasonable proximity, listen for the loud, distinct humming noise. Once the audio spikes, look for the exclamation point UI marker.

Collection methods: You do not need a specific tool or an empty inventory slot. You can run directly into a cube to collect it, or use the interact prompt if the environment geometry blocks your path. The game registers both.

Pacing the 70-cube grind: There are currently 50 cubes available on the map, grouped in fives across ten POIs. Do not try to get all five at one location in a single match if the zone is hot. Grab one or two as you rotate, and let the quest complete naturally over a few matches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I collect all available chaos cubes?

You track a portion of the Dark Voyager's path. Since the quest requires 70 cubes and only 50 are currently active in-game, you will hit a progression wall until a future update—likely a mid-season patch—unlocks the remaining 20.

Do I need to find the chaos cubes in a specific order?

No. The Path of the Voyager quest only tracks your total aggregate count. You can clear Ripped Tides first, or bounce between points of interest. The game does not enforce a linear sequence.

Can I collect cubes in Team Rumble?

Because map mechanics sometimes vary between core Battle Royale and Team Rumble, verify the UI tracker is present in your chosen mode. However, the spawn locations (like the Fishstick statue at Ripped Tides) remain consistent across modes that use the standard Chapter 7 Season 2 island layout.

Patch Sensitivity & Meta Caveats

[Reasoned Inference] Epic Games routinely shifts prop locations and POI layouts with major updates. The Ripped Tides layout, which was updated as of April 16, 2026, is current. However, treat every cluster location as perishable data. If a building is destroyed or a landmark shifts due to a live event, the associated cubes will likely move to a nearby unshielded area or be temporarily disabled. Always trust the in-game audio hum over outdated map coordinates.
